Local eateries recipes revealed in cookbook A new cookbook from an Overland Park publisher brings the recipes of more than 100 Kansas City restaurants to the kitchens of their patrons. Restaurant Recipes of Kansas City reveals the ingredients and practices used by professional chefs to make more than 150 dishes ranging from Dragon Inn Lemon Chicken to Johnny Cascones Chocolate Cannoli Shells. Diners may be surprised to see restaurateurs divulging their trade secrets, and publisher JE Cornwell said he encountered a fair share of reluctance while collecting the recipes. It wasn’t easy. There were several people that were concerned about putting in recipes that were their bread and butter, Cornwell said. To ease some of those concerns, Cornwell also accepted recipes outside of regularly featured entrees, such as daily specials or chefs personal favorites from home. Some restaurants were more than willing to share their edible assets with their customers and submitted multiple recipes. KC Masterpiece Barbecue and Grill submitted a couple of its staples, Cornwell said. I’ve got Rich Davis baked beans and dry rub recipes. This guy has made a lot of money with those recipes, Cornwell said.
